Our four legged friends

Hey good looking, worthy of  being a pin up boy ......this is the mighty Max who is a German Shepherd.

Although, admittedly a little overweight, Holly is still agile enough to get up onto the cool stone seat.Puts her more on the level with Max.

this is the lovely  affectionate Smudge. She looks like a possum but is really a cat !!

Max  with tongue at the ready, about to give smudge an affectionate licking!!

FLOWERS GALORE

Now, why would one buy flowers when we can grown them like this ???

Ambridge Rose is one of my favourites, smells like apricot

PEACHES and more peaches

In a gift basket with other "homemade with love "treats, the peaches were well received by friends and family.

I am considering repeating the process for the 2011 festive season.
The peaches were bought at the wonderful Saturday morning markets at the Mt Claremont Primary School. I made up a brew of whiskey, cinnamon sticks and lemon peel. Delicious !

I heard someone say ...making preserves was like "squirrelling" . I know just how she felt !

Liberty Bag

This lovely bag has been made from my stash of Liberty fabrics.
It is lined with felt and has Liberty fabric pockets for mobile phone etc.
Measurements are 43cm at base, 30cm across the top and the height is 36cm.
Send me an email if you would like one made for yourself.

Laugh Kookaburra Laugh !

I wanted to share with you the bird coming to enjoy a few pieces of the dog's steak. In typical style, he banged the meat on the branch of the oak tree. These two oaks were planted 7 years ago and provide wonderful shade over the back of my house which faces west. The limestone wall running along the back boundary is 40 metres long and took me from October until May to build. Trust me to choose summer to do such a hot job !!!

Sassy Stephanotis and Vivacious Virginia

Look at the Stephanotis growing on the garage wall and alongside the Virginia creeper. The blackberries of the Virginia Creeper in the autumn make wonderful companions to the stark white of the Stephanotis which is still blooming quite late this year. Both provide great passive solar ptotection on the house.....you can see it climbing around the window at the front which faces east. The room behind the window is the coolest in the house.
Two pairs of doves and finches of some kind had their families in the creeper this summer providing a cool and safe home for their babies.

Inspirational Photos

Was wandering down memory lane this morning and was inspired all over again by this photo I took outside the window of a florist shop in London.
Have realized how often we are drawn to colours for periods of time and these colours have been a common palette for my quilts of recent months.

Am also more drawn to stronger and brighter colours in the garden.
I have a deep pink/purple clary sage just coming into bloom. Next week it will be full out.
It has a "Falstaff" David Austin for its neighbour and their tall spires are looking very grand in their autumn dress!!

Is'nt this birdhouse adorable ? I just LOVE it.
